Personally I find this will get up a lot of peoples noses. Those that feel they have nothing to hide may accept this into their everyday lives without question. But there are others who may feel they are being picked on or singled out for no apparent reason other than what they look like.

The real question would be why the government feels it needs to do this, when the majority of people are law abiding citizens. If there were more police around who were friendly with the local people, anyone not local will stick out like a sore thumb, anyone acting suspiciously would be seen a mile off. Obviously this is a lot more difficult in big cities but the stop and quiz would more likely breed suspicion between the police and the people they should be protecting. Perhaps they should just carry mobile lie-detectors and ask everyone if they are a criminal or a terrorist ‘just answer yes or no, please’.
